So this is it, the start of a new tour, a new year, a new life on the road!
Sat in my office at home looking out the window, seing all these nice new silver cars outside of these nice new houses, with nice new kids. It’s never been something I or we desired.
Harking back to the time we sat on that train travelling through Java, when we talked about the future of the band, it all seems to be coming together now, this year.
I was talking to an old friend the other day about how we carry on amid the apparent successes of flash in the pan artists. I was happy to explain, we were never striving for success in that way, if we were going to build ourselves a home, we would do it ourselves using materials to hand at the time, and, over time we’d improve our skills in to enhance our life-style. Home Sweet Home.
But now we have to leave home, we need to learn more skills. Not knowing what lies ahead is one of the most invigorating feelings you can have. Knowing we are going to play to new people in new towns and cities, new countries, new realities, new obsticles. It’s all out there and in our way. To progress to the next level, we must astonish audiences with our passion, our energy, our intent. For people who are intruiged by Desert Funk, they can listen to it online, the fans who now come to see us, know us personally. This is something so special words cannot convey. An experience.
So the Red Rocket has had a new clutch part, a drink of oil and a wash and it’s ready to go!
